Miss Penny Lane

I always tell the girls, never take it seriously.
If ya never take it seriously, ya never get hurt.
Ya never get hurt, ya always have fun...
And if you ever get lonely, just go to the record store and visit your friends.

props to a legend who is already missed

a fond farewell to a good jewish boy from cleveland...

paul newman, you are an icon. there is nothing i can say about you and your legacy that hasn't already been said during your lifetime and since your recent death. search the papers for all the good stuff--i can't possibly contribute more. i just want to (almost) silently honor you...

Suede Advertisementsuede, please!! if one chooses to refer to refer to oneself in the 3rd person, as suede seems to love to do, one must be consistent! you can't say "suede thinks that he...blah blah blah, but i think that...and i'm gonna..." this only works if you're sybil. and i hope you're not MPD, suede. your work does not look like someone who has multiple personalities, at least until before tonight's ep, so cut. it. out. now. you may not need to cut it out, as tonight's design may get you cut. i mean, i love it, i would wear it (perhaps as separates), but i am an old gal--this chick just egressed teenage wasteland. i don't think it works at all for a photog -- they need to be discreet/invisible and comfortable. it's either suede or jim...i just hope neither one is on my effing team....

reasons kurt is impressed with MPL, volume i: the loo

she decorates, she organizes, and she even uses tools!

not only does that old vegetable basket keep our towels organized (thanks anthro!), but the door to the loo can still open very wide! i coulda put that anthro-bought piece to work in le jardien or above the loo, as recommended by a couple o' people, but i hung a picture above the loo instead, as that is a nicer thing to see when reaching the top of the stairs and looking at the loo. :)

oh, the top part is being used for the large towels...it just took me a bit to figure out how to fold them so as to fit properly...

stay tuned for volume ii -- the closet!!

FASHION POLICE....the ugliest thing i've seen in a long time

leave it to american apparel to put this outfit together. where do i even begin? with the awful prints, or the hideous fit of the pants? it looks like she couldn't decide between going to the beach in her swim suit or hitting Gold's Gym circa 1990 in those pants. then again, everytime i diss a new trend, i end up loving it...OK, not everytime; although i did give in to the skinny jeans fad, i have never owned a pair of fUggs and i never will.

omg, i have tons of FASHION POLICEWOMAN stuff to post once i get my life settled again... between the work trips, the big move, and the loss o' my grandma, i haven't had a normal week in months! keep posted for some great (tragic) photos to come soon.

xoxox,

MPL

P.S. i can't believe it has been SEVEN YEARS since 9/11. It still feels fresh... My thoughts are with all the friends and families of lost loved ones.

There'll be dancing in heaven
On the night before the longest day
A celebration in rhythm
At this time it was always this way

Sing out for the one light,
Reach out to the flame
So fine so fine
That we can make it this way

Sing the song of the ages
Giving voice on this beautiful night
Feed the flame in high places
From the earth to the giver of light

Sing out for the one light
Reach out to the flame
So fine so fine
That we can make it this way

Bringing peace to the valley
Carry fire through the oaks and the grove
Precious memory carry
As we move through the circles and stones

Sing out to the one light
Reach out to the flame
So fine, So fine
That we can make it this way
What do you see when you are
Inside a star, inside a star
What do you do when you are young
Stare at the sun, stare at the sun
Did you perceive at the time
That you were blind, that you were blind
What do you see when you are
Inside a star, inside a star

Now you lie here with open eyes and
Now you sleep by the phone
Now you lie here with open eyes and
Now you weep on your own
Now you lie here with open eyes
and you know you're not alone

What do you see when you are
Afraid of the dark, afraid of the dark
What did you when you were old
Hide from the cold, hide from the cold
Did you perceive even then
You'd come back again, that you'd come back again
What do you see when you are
Inside a star, inside a star
And I thank the Lord for the people I have found,
I thank the Lord for the people I have found.

While Mona Lisas and mad hatters,
sons of bankers, sons of lawyers,
turn around and say, "good morning" to the night.
For unless they see the sky, but they can't and that is why,
they know not if it's dark outside or light,
they know not if it's dark outside or light.
